Vladimir Mrša received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb in 1984. He joined Laboratory of Biochemistry, Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb in 1980 and has been the full Professor at the same Faculty since 1999. He has conducted research in the field of protein glycosylation and secretion, as well as cell wall biosynthesis in fungi. Professor Mrša has published 50 scientific papers which have been cited over 1000 times according to Web of Science. Besides, he has published 2 patents and has been an invited lecturer at a number of domestic and international meetings. He is an active member of the Croatian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Croatian Microbiological Society and Croatian Society for Biotechnology. Professor Mrša has served as the dean of the Faculty of Food Technology and Biotechnology, University of Zagreb in two mandates (2003-2007). Presently, he is the Head of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the same Faculty, as well as the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Food Technology and Biotechnology.
